Love Getting Your Hands Dirty? Then We Want to Hear from You!

Spring is upon us! Today’s warm weather and looming thunderstorm mean one thing: April showers bring May flowers… and veggies! If you have extensive farming or vegetable gardening experience and would like to volunteer as a hub coordinator in the Riverdale neighbourhood, keep reading.

What you bring: A passion for food and farming, eagerness to face a challenging experience, and the desire to make a real difference in the community. You have extensive farming or vegetable gardening experience and love getting your hands dirty, rain or shine. You’re reliable and feel comfortable leading others.

What you will be doing: Garden and bed preparation in the spring, as well as planting, seeding, watering, pruning, weeding, and harvesting produce throughout the summer. You will also liaise and maintain positive relationships with land-sharers and CSA participants/shareholders as well as lead other garden interns and volunteers.

When and where: We grow in backyards in Riverdale near Gerrard & Jones. Access to a bike to move between the gardens is a must. Commit to the whole growing season and spend 5 – 6 hours per week in the gardens, split between Sunday afternoons and one weekday evening.

How we’ll support you: There will be several orientation and training sessions over the weekends in May. You’ll receive ongoing support from the YUF CSA team.

Perks: You’ll get to work outside all summer and learn more about food gardening while building your skills and confidence. You’ll be part of a great team of interns, volunteers, and staff. By the end of the growing season, you will have helped several interns gain gardening knowledge and skills.

If this sounds like you: Send an e-mail with your cover letter, resume, and contact information to andrea (at) yufcsa.com
