Co-founders

Elaine Howarth - Operations ManagerElaine is a graduate of Trent University where she studied Environmental and Political Studies. As the Head of Operations, she plans, coordinates, and oversees all of our farm hubs. She has a passion for food security and urban agriculture, and has worked with Trent’s greenroof & 1/2 acre, Local Food Plus, the Riverdale Food Working Group, and the Green Oasis Community Garden.

 

Chris Wong – Fundraising Manager

Chris is a graduate of Queen’s University and helps to make gardening fun and rewarding. He  believes in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, and is always up for a challenge. He is active in the food world as a member of the Toronto Youth Food Policy Council, and has been a guest speaker for a variety of local food organizations. He is also the co-founder and director of Young Urban Farmers Ltd., which provides private, edible landscaping and vegetable gardening services.

Stella Woo – Program Manager

Stella is a graduate from the University of Toronto, majoring in Human Biology and Economics. She has a passion for fresh food and home cooking, drawing inspiration from Toronto’s culinary scene to her role as program manager and website technician.

 

Cindy

Cindy Hart – Program Manager

Cindy is an American expat, who has spent the last 8 years as a marketing professional in Boston and New York City. Upon moving to Toronto and wanting to participate in a cause more worthwhile, she found Cultivate Toronto. She is very excited to bring her business experience to Cultivate Toronto to help do good in the local community.

 

Kenneth

Kenneth Chan – Finance Manager

Kenneth is a graduate from the University of Toronto majoring in Commerce and Finance. He is looking forward to reconnecting with the community and its local produce. He’s exciting about the opportunity to cultivate new experiences and develop a better appreciation for food. On his down time he enjoys playing squash, dragonboating and painting.

 

Andrea Andrea Chan - HR Manager and Internship CoordinatorAndrea pursued an education in Counselling Psychology, began a career in Psychosocial Health Research, then found her true calling in the environmental field and is a passionate about building a cleaner, healthier, happier Toronto supported by a sustainable food system. She splits her down time between doing yoga, reading, drinking tea, growing veggies on her balcony, playing board games, and petting her cats.

 

Madeline Madeline Boyce - Volunteer CoordinatorMadeline is a graduate of the University of Toronto majoring in Political Science. Her focus over the past several years has been on the politics of climate change. Her love of home grown organic produce came from working in her large backyard vegetable garden each year in her hometown of Halifax, NS.

 

Sarah Plummer – Public Relations Coordinator

Sarah is a Toronto-based, writer, editor, and communications specialist with a background in media and marketing. A lover of fresh-grown foods and a culinary enthusiast, she believes that every person should do their part to live cleaner for now and future generations.

 

Tahlia Dyer - Newsletter Coordinator

Tahlia is a free spirit, urban farmer, foodie, and writer. She is ecstatic to be involved as the coordinator for CultivateTO’s newsletter, ‘Around the Watering Can’. Her passion for local food, agriculture, and community inspired her to start Halton Food Swap. She can be found in the garden, outdoors, or practicing yoga. Tahlia is looking forward to sharing experiences and encouraging folks to become more connected with our own food, or at least a little closer to it!

 

Morgan

Morgan Shuker – Online Engagement Coordinator

Morgan is a mature student, writer, fitness ambassador, blogger at Life After Bagels, and social media advisor. A long time champion of clean eating, she has recently fallen in love with gardening. Morgan is excited to bring her online engagement experience to the Cultivate Toronto team while learning more about growing her own food.

 

Christina

Christina Wong – Graphic Design Coordinator

Christina joins Cultivate Toronto as Graphic Designer assisting the team in developing and creating the organization’s marketing materials. She is passionate about visual design and communication and enjoys exploring digital photography.

 

Nevena Gazibara – Outreach Coordinator

Nevena is a recent graduate of the Master of Resource and Environmental Management program at Dalhousie University, where she completed extensive food security and urban agriculture policy research. With her budding passion for growing vegetables and community food security, Nevena is looking forward to being an important part of the growing urban agriculture movement in Toronto.

 

Diana

Diana Bosworth – Workshop Coordinator

Diana a researcher with corporate experience and skills in project management, event programming and coordination with a Certificate in Culinary Tourism at George Brown. She is also a qualified caterer who collects cookbooks and loves to celebrate the diversity of Toronto by cooking food from many of the countries represented here. Diana spent her childhood on a sheep farm in New Zealand where we grew fruit and vegetables, kiwifruit being one of them! She still grows food in her backyard and currently volunteers at two Farmers Markets.

 

Erik

Erik Nissan – Sales Coordinator

Erik is currently enrolled in the Culinary Management program at George Brown College. He is passionate about sustainability and urban agriculture. He hopes to combine this passion with his expertise in marketing in order to make his mark on the local and sustainable food movement.
